Galileo India begins E-ticketing for Jet Airways |
Galileo India becomes Jet Airway's first GDS to offer e-tickets 3rd October 2005, New Delhi -
Galileo India, the leading Global Distribution Service Provider (GDS) today announced e-ticketing services for Jet Airways through its extensive network.
Jet Airways will take the lead among other domestic full-service carriers to move to the e-ticketing mode, which is now the growing trend across airlines globally.
Galileo's extensive network reaches out to over 6700 agency locations across India. The agents will now have access to e-ticketing services in compliance with the Billing Settlement Plan (BSP).
Speaking on the development, Mr. Raja Natesan, President and CEO, Galileo India said, “We are happy to bring e-ticketing to the Indian travel industry with Jet Airways. Galileo offers this service to over twenty domestic and international airlines. With the IATA demanding 100% conversion to e-ticketing by end of 2007, this marks a significant milestone for Indian airline industry.”
E ticketing enables ‘paper-less' travel allowing a customer to be without the bother of collecting physical tickets or the fear of losing them. On making a reservation, the passenger gets a confirmation by e-mail, fax or other means; this document has a reference number of his reservation, along with the itinerary. All he has to do is to present this reference number at the airport, along with a proof of identity, to collect his boarding card.
